Hands-on
job with Dudley Ladies is John’s dream
Five
years ago John Murphy decided to pack in a secure and well paid job as a
fast response driver for West Midlands Police and take the less secure
path of becoming a self- employed massage therapist.
It was quite a
change for a man who had also been in the military for 12 years,
serving in the Navy as a radar operator and engaging in active service
during the Falklands conflict.
After training at Dudley College to
gain some relevant qualifications, John decided he would take the plunge
and follow his heart.
A keen runner, cyclist and weightlifter, he wanted to pursue his dream
of being his own boss and working with like-minded sports people in a
more caring capacity.
As
well as working very closely with Rita
Vanes and Dudley Ladies Running
Club since the clubs
formation, John is now traveling to international sports events as a massage
therapist with the England Wado-Kai
Karate team and working with several other well established sports
organizations, such as the Black Country Triathlon Association.
John is also
teaching massage skills to students at Dudley College, working as a
personal trainer and offering remedial and sports massage on an
individual basis from his clinic at Cambrian House in Lower High Street,
Stourbridge.
